12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Richard J. Daley Library Room 1-470

The Policing in Chicago Research Group (PCRG) brings faculty and students at UIC into conversation with community on the front lines of struggles against police repression in communities of color.

Through an ongoing dialogue with local organizers, the PCRG studies emerging forms of Big Data policing, including massive databases, predictive analytics, advanced surveillance, and data sharing. Their research lays bare the structures of the surveillance state and details the impact of Big Data policing on Black, Latinx, and Arab/Muslim communities in Chicago.

In this presentation, they will discuss the CPD gang database and the #EraseTheDatabase campaign.

Lunch is provided.
