About

Julia is currently a Masters candidate in Urban Planning and Policy at UIC, specializing in transportation. She is interested in the intersections of equity and transportation as well as participatory planning and political education through organizing. She joined the IPCE team in Spring 2022 as a graduate research assistant.

Previously, she has worked as a research intern with Equiticity and a Program Delivery Manager at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, where she was a Youth Development Specialist in Morocco before the COVID-19 pandemic cut service. Her undergraduate years studying Economics, Urban Studies, and Arabic language at The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a summer undergraduate research fellowship with Texas A&M Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center, has gained her valuable experience in mixed-methods urban research. In her spare time, she loves reading, writing poetry, and going on long runs and bike rides down the lakefront.
