About
Michael Obadein is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE) and a second-year Master of Social Work student at the University of Illinois Chicago, specializing in School Social Work. Prior to joining IPCE, he served as a Graduate Assistant with UIC’s African American Academic Network (AAAN)/TRIO Student Support Services, where he acted as a liaison between students and faculty and facilitated the Brothers United in Lunch Discussion (BUILD) group twice a month. Michael also serves as President of We Are Men (WAM), a program that promotes the retention and success of Black male students in the social work program.
Outside of his academic and leadership roles, Michael enjoys working out, watching documentaries and taking nature walks.
