About
Devonté West is a Graduate Assistant at the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE), where he supports undergraduate fellows in conducting public policy research and provides guidance and supervision for internship experiences through the Urban Public Policy Fellowship (UPPF) Program.
Devonté earned his Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Learning, with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Education, graduating with honors. His experience in civic engagement includes serving as a teacher's assistant working with Chicago Public Schools students and interning with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Obama Foundation- My brother’s keeper alliance.
Currently, Devonté is pursuing a Master of Education at UIC. Upon graduation, he plans to build a career in public policy or education research. Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, he is passionate about volunteering, the creative arts, and youth development programming.
As a proud UPPF alumnus, Devonté is committed to advancing IPCE's mission of cultivating the next generation of civic leaders. He is honored to support undergraduate students as they develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to engage in civic life and advocate for meaningful community change.
